In this level, since we focus on the mensural and rhythmic values of notes, knowledge of Solmization is not strictly necessary to understand the course content.

However, since melodies are made of both rhythm and sound, I will use Hexachordal Solmization to sing the exercises—so having some familiarity with it is highly recommended.

Knowledge of Cantus Firmus is not required for this level.
