In this level, we study the Modality of Renaissance Polyphony, which is an expansion, evolution, and amplification of Cantus Firmus modality.

Therefore, knowledge of Hexachordal Solmization and Cantus Firmus is required!

Familiarity with Cantus Figuratus—White Mensural Notation—is highly recommended but not strictly necessary.

The examples we will play, sing, and read do not involve complex mensurations and can easily be read by anyone familiar with modern musical notation.
